Committees

Committees are a great way for members to become active in the organization, providing flexible time commitments. If you are interested in participating in a committee, email secretary@vaarttherapy.com, subject line “Committees”. Please list which committee(s) you are interested in and our Committee chairs will contact you and provide you with further information about the committees that you specify. Feel free to ask about them all!

 

YES, you can be a part of more than one committee! 

 

Budget/ Scholarship Committee

The Budget Committee consists of four VATA professional members of the chapter to include: the Treasurer and two other members of the executive  board plus one professional member. The focus of this committee is to assist the Chapter in securing the treasury, maintain fiscal responsibility, and promote transparent spending for the chapter. 

 

Events Committee 

The Events Committee consists of at least one Executive Board member and two or more student, professional, or community patron VATA members. This committee is in charge of the development, planning, and facilitation of VATA events. The purpose of this committee is to enrich the Virginia art therapy community with outlets for expression and socialization while promoting profession.

 

Governmental Affairs Committee 

The Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) consists of at least three VATA professional members to include the Delegate and/or the appointed Chapter GAC Chair, as well as a minimum of two other members of the Chapter. The GAC monitors state and national policy actions to ensure that the Association‘s interests and objectives are adequately represented at all levels of government, and supports and advocates for legislation and policies that promote the profession and practice of art therapy.

 

Membership/ Elections Committee  

This committee typically consists of three VATA professional members, at least one of whom must be a member of the Executive Board. The Membership Director serves as Chair. The other two may be appointed by the Executive Board. The Membership/ Elections Committee is responsible for managing membership and serving as a liaison between membership and the board. In addition, the Membership/ Elections Committee is responsible for presenting to the membership the most qualified slate of candidates for election, seeking nominations and recruiting leaders.

 

Professional Development Committee 

The Professional Development Committee shall consist of three to six members (including the chair).   This committee develops, oversees, and monitors the offering of Continuing Education Credits (CECs) and other professional workshops. The purpose of the Professional Development Committee is to enhance the professional competence of Association members and to develop and promote knowledge in and of the profession of art therapy. 

 

Social Media Committee

The Social Media/ Website Committee consists of at least three members of the Chapter to include one Executive Board Member as well as a minimum of two other members of the Chapter. The Social Media/ Website Committee is responsible for being the “voice” of VATA, sharing all information to members and the general public. The Social Media/ Website Committee works closely with  the Board and all Committees to share information in an accurate, creative, and timely manner.
